In 2013, I had the great pleasure of getting to meet and work with playwright Garrett Zuercher for the Amios' July Shotz: Lights! Camera! Shotz!.
It was the first of several marvelous collaborations with Garrett.
The conditions for that particular Shotz included incorporating various film genre into the plays. Garrett wrote a very clever piece with film students viewing an old silent film and then actually, through the miracle of the magical screen, interacting with the characters on the screen.
Below, you can see the full-film Love's Enduring Pain that was viewed by the students (and the Shotz audience) at the beginning of the play.
I was particularly proud of the mixing of the score for this film.
Interestingly enough, it is the second project listed on this website that owes some debt to Sunset Boulevard !!
Special thanks to Garrett, Brittane Rowe, Justin Yorio, and Becky Baumwoll.
Their patience in the process of making this film and their contributions to realizing the logic of the play were invaluable.
